It is very obvious that Miharu is not a naturally indifferent person. We know that it stemmed from his mother's dying request for him to be indifferent during the transferring of the Shinra Banshou, but my question is this: Do you think that Asahi actually created some kind of lock on Miharu via the Shinra Banshou to guarantee his indifference, or do you think that Miharu was subconsciously following her request even though he couldn't remember it?

I don't think there was a lock in the sense of an overriding compulsion, partly because I don't think Miharu's approach to indifference was what Asahi actually intended. But I do think there may have been something like a fragment of her will hanging around the part of his mind where he's connected to the Shinrabansho, which could have been a lingering influence. I don't know, her appearances in his headspace may have just been symbolic, but it seems plausible, at least. Still, since he specifically references a promise, I think it was mainly a subconscious feeling of obligation which motivated him.
